Mary Kay Bowman – Square
Mary Kay Bowman was just a few months ago leading the development of Amazon Local Register, a product that hoped to become a challenge to Square’s core payments business. Now, Bowman is on the other side — she has recently taken a senior role at Square, where she will serve as the company’s head of payments partnerships and operations. She’ll create partnerships to help Square expand globally and help to create new payments products for merchants.
Lance Brown – UpSnap
Lance Brown recently moved from User Friendly Media to UpSnap to be the company’s VP of product and technology. He’s charged with developing the product strategy and technology infrastructure to support Small Businesses and their ability to access UpSnap’s Mobile Banner Advertising platform and network. Lance brings over a decade of sales, marketing and product knowledge and just left his role as VP of product development at UFM — specifically Huzzah Media.
Joe Brett – eLocal
eLocal.com recently brought on industry veteran Joe Brett to be the company’s Chief Sales Officer. Brett has been charged with selling the performance-based pricing model through channel partners. He also has 20+ years of experience in building and managing sales teams including a ten year stint at hibu as their regional sales director. Prior to that, he was at RH Donnelley and Thomas Publishing.
Jen Fitzpatrick – Google
Brian McClendon was long considered one of Google’s most influential engineering executives for a long time. He has now been replaced as head of the maps group by Jen Fitzpatrick, another Google veteran who has been with the company for 16 years. It appears that McClendon is currently weighing his options.
Tyler Simmons – Foursquare
As they build out their location-based ad targeting capabilities, Foursquare has recently added several sales executives to its team. Tyler Simmons, a former executive at The Exchange Lab, will lead programmatic partnerships which is a newly-created division to sell the company’s new ad tech product Pinpoint which targets consumers based on the places they’ve been.
Paco Viñoly – Nextdoor
Neighborhood social networking company Nextdoor recently hired Square’s former design director Paco Viñoly to be its new VP of design. Viñoly will lead everything design-related at Nextdoor from internal design, product design and events — and even the physical look and feel of the office.
Also on the move: Dustin Luther was recently promoted to director of engagement at Dun & Bradstreet… Geoff Infeld became the VP of business development at Convirza… Alastair Thornton just became GM at Web.com for the UK, leaving Thomson Local after four years. David Pann celebrates 5 wonderful years as GM of search advertising at Microsoft.
