Gokul Rajaram – Square
Mobile merchant account & payment system Square has hired Gokul Rajaram to be product engineering lead. Rajaram will head software development for Square Register, a point-of-sale system for businesses. Most recently, he was the product director of ads at Facebook, where he drove product development and execution for the company’s ad products. Prior to joining Facebook, Rajaram co-founded Chai Labs and he was Product Management Director for Google’s AdSense.
Leela de Krester – DNAinfo
DNAinfo.com’s editorial director and publisher Leela de Kretser is leaving the company. No word yet on where she’s headed next. Ms. de Kretser, who spoke on a panel at Street Fight Summit in New York earlier this year, helped launch the neighborhood news site in New York 2009, and engineered its expansion into the city’s outer boroughs and then to Chicago. Before joining DNAinfo, she was a senior producer at Newser.com. She also worked previously for The New York Post and The Herald-Sun.
Michael Boland & Jed Williams – BIA/Kelsey
Michael Boland, who’s been covering interactive and mobile media for local media research and advisory firm BIA/Kelsey since 2005 (and who writes a monthly column for Street Fight), was recently promoted to VP of content. In his new role, Mike will direct internal programs such as the evolution of BIA/Kelsey’s Custom Advisory Services, and the newly formed “BIA/Kelsey Labs.” Mike has been with the company for over nine years.
BIA/Kelsey also promoted Jed Williams to VP of consulting. He will manage the company’s growing strategic consulting practice and will remain focused on helping clients build and execute successful digital media business strategies. Jed’s expertise spans market research and segmentation, forecasting, strategic planning, new product development, partnerships and competitive intelligence.
